Windows 11, Version 24H2 Installation Failure: No Internet

After upgrading one of my desktop (actually on the floor) Windows 11 computers to Version 24H2 all network traffic (Wi-Fi and LAN) ceased. My router showed my desktop had been assigned an IP address and should have been working. Windows built in diagnostics could not fix the problem.

Long Story Short

This fixed my Internet access:

  • Open Windows 11 Settings
  • Search for “Network Reset”, should look like this:
  • Click on the Reset now button and confirm
  • You should get a message that your computer will reboot in 5 minutes. If you don’t get this message try again. I didn’t get that message the first time, nothing happened. Don’t know why, have to practice my clicking or something.
  • Wait for the reboot.
  • After my system rebooted it still took several minutes for the network to start working again. Give it some time.

Good luck with this and future Microsoft updates!
